here are my journey wearing a newborn. please alert me if i make any mistake and advice me if i can make any improvement.
p/s: this is my first time babywearing a newborn. i start babywearing my first doter, anis when shes 2 mo. shes already chubby and good head control at that time.
Its not easy to BW a newborn.
Being a newborn, they are so tiny and fragile.
Make me scared to put irfan into sling coz definitely they will lost in that amount of fabric.
I start bw irfan since i start making trip to clinic for jaundice checkup.
i BW irfan at home too whenever he needs snuggle. i can tell that if he
doesnt sleep well in the cot. irfan will grunting like he wants to be
bf, but whenever i try to bf, irfan doesnt bother to suck the nipple. i
try to comfort him by walking around and he calmed down... so i take a
sling and carried irfan. whenever he sleep well in the sling, slowly i
put him down to the cot.

Every newborn will have this. there are no exceptions. its just how bad
it is. if lucky, only mild jaundice. if not lucky, its severe jaundice.
u know the drill. frequent blood checkup or phototherapy.
during anis time, on day4, nurses come over to my house........ check
the mother n baby. as for anis, by looking at the eye n skin color,
they say its only mild jaundice and assure me that i dun have to
worried too much. as long as i keep on breastfeeding, that would be gud
enuf for anis. they never refer me to do blood checkup at any nearest
cllinic. in 2 weeks, the slightly yellowish color on anis white eye
slowly disappeared.
during irfan time, on day3, nurses come to my house........ as usual to
check mother n baby. as for irfan, by looking at the eye and skin
color, they said its severe jaundice and refer me to the nearest clinic
for blood checkup. just to make sure how much it is the bilirubin
level. below is the serum bilirubin level during the visit to the
clinic. still got more visit after this.

im not worried to much for the jaundice level as i know it still in
moderate jaundice. plus i breastfeeding exclusively. There are pressure
as well from well mean n good intentions of relatives n frens. they
suggest lots of things that is beleive can cure the jaundice such as
-air masak/plain water
-air sengkuang cina
-air halwa kundur
-susu kambing
i tried my best to avoid giving those things as i beleive strongly that
breastmilk is gud enuf for irfan and the jaundice will subside away
slowly. the main reason irfan jaundice level keep increase from birth
day till day 9 is bcoz of below reason....
1.been sleepy (newborn stage and bilirubin makes baby sleepy)
2.less demand to breastfeed ( due to sleepy factor)
3.passive sucker (just bf for few minutes before dozed off again- due to sleepy factor too)
4.just drink the foremilk, not the hindmilk ( due to factor 1, 2 and 3)
so, thats why even i bf irfan, the bilirubin level seems to keep
increase. so, i decided to pump the foremilk anf bf irfan later on
hoping that he will get as much as hindmilk which contain more
benefecial nutrients. on day 12 and day 14, the level dcreasing. hope
it will dcerease more nextweek. insyaAllah.
it just that im tired going to the clinic almost every day or alternate
day. and i know it will going like this till the level drop to 150 and
below. haih........... very tired.......... with the waiting and
waiting for turn at lab n seing doc, half of my day will be finish at
clinic only.
luckily i sling irfan whenever i go... less strain to my hands and body. plus i can bf irfan discretely in the sling.

Hm... I have a book of my recipes... I put it in the kitchen for my maid, supervised by mom in law to cook during my last confinement. my first confinement, MIL did it on her own- neighbour made some soup occasionally.
top of my head (MIL's simple stuff)
- ikan haruan bakar
- pegaga
- sup sayur
- sup ayam
- ayam kicap halia
- sayur celur
Ada byk lagik, nnt I carik kat dapur. No fluid restriction. I mmg tak makan goreng2, and loves soup. Oh pepper shaker too.. so I can add more pepper if I want to.
Air... I byk gak minum akar herbanika from Nona Roguy. Before and after a BF session, a mug of plain water or teh nona roguy tuh.
I got my sushi at day 44 I think hahaha. Sbb tak tau wasabi is okay or not in confinement.

u n ito did mention about kicap........ my mom tak bg mkn kicap. she say that nti luka tinggal parut besides not good eat thing yg diperam. (proses kicap adalah dgn peram kacang soya kan). better eat fresh things. what do u think about this.
as for sayur, my mom allowed to eat kobis cina (small cute cabbage) and sawi cina( small cute sawi)..... good to increase bm supply as well. what type of sayur that u eat?

haha... 44 days will get a bit bored with just 2 recipes.
simple soup recipe - good for breastfeeding
Ingredients:
Around 15 kurma in 1 pot of water ~1.5L
Boil for 20mins, leave overnight & reboil next day. Tastes really nice. Use fresh kurma is nicer compared to dried kurma.
the other recipes, basically just steam chicken (get ayam kampung) or fish with ginger slices or sesame oil and some vege dishes. my confinement food was very boring also coz hubby cooked. :p

mind to give more details regarding ur steam chicken.
i dun have steam pot (yg mcm utk kukus pau tu)...... dun have microwave nor oven....... only stove.

Dear all frens.
As all of u aware that ill be in confinement alone. im ok with it. i have no problem with bathing newborn, bertungku, beururt, berbengkung...... it just that i have no idea about confinement recipe.
i tot i can survive with 2 recipe (kari and herb soup) thru out 44 days but i was totally wrong!
its only 2 weeks im already bored.....
please share ur confinement recipe here with step by step how to do it coz im totally dumb at cooking. hehehehe. i truly admit about that. cooking is not my skill.

guys, kalau you know enough about the process of birth, and that fear creates tension, and tension creates pain (therefore avoid having fear..) the pain will be bearable.. inshaa Allaah. percaya lah ;)
Edited to add, I wouldn't even call it pain.. it's just discomfort..!

ray, i understand birthing process cuma tak lekat di kepala. cepat panik. yes, im panic all the way to hospital.... those panic issue yg make my pain become more intense.
im really envy ur birthing process........ wish i can be in that birth position coz lying down is truly uncomfortable... sakit pinggang weh.

tapi alhamdulillah ek.. senang bersalin.. hospital mana tu.. terus letak anak atas dada right after delivery.. siap dpt bf within 1 hour.. mine.. sorang je dpt feed terus.. yg lain mintak byk kali pun depa dah siap feed kat nursery.. sakit jiwa betul..

bukan berani, tapi tak sangka secepat itu... masa anis dulu, sakit contraction every 5 min start hari ahad, selasa baru ketuban pecah. so i tot for the second time, its the same. mmg gabra tahap gaban bila ketuban pecah on that nite! tak dan nak tunggu lift, terus turun via tangga. nasib baik umah tingkat 1 je. (at that time i wish my hubby dukung me turun tangga....mcm citer hindustan la konon...LOL)
bersalin di Hospital gomen je. Hosiptal Pulau Pinang.
doc letak atas dada so that i can see my boy clearly.... kalau tertukar pun ngan anak org lain, kita tau anak kita rupa camana kan....... my silly theory.
just few seconds...then doc letak dlm cot, nurse bersihkan... while doc jahit my tear. after that baru dapat BF. my aim to BF within 1 hour tercapai. hehehehe. kena demand nand remind the nurse as well..... budak tak nangis, bo layan la diorang....pi attend others people delivery.

surprisingly irfan can fit in drybees small yesterday. irfan only 2 weeks........dia tak chubby but fitting ok sgt.

ai1=soaker jahit sekali with cover........ drying time problem skit
ai2=soaker tak dijahit sekali, but been put togther via snap button... so can reuse the shell if only soaker yg soiled. cepat kering as u can pisahkan soaker with cover. fyi, i use grobaby as my diaper cover as well... use with lampin , fitted n prefold.

leen.... nite time diapering, if guna fitted, tak guna diaper cover pun takpe... kalau takut bocor, lapik tilam tu with kain batik or any waterproof bedsheet....... bumblebee has nice waterproof..... made from flannel layer... tak panas compare to guna plastic bedsheet.
if guna aio, make sure u can customize the absoebency or soaker dia mmg jenis absorbent mcm hemp, vlour or bamboo or cotton.... i love dream eze aio and dream eze fitted...very good absorbency.
if guna ai2......... grobaby is a good choice.... soaker dia mmg power for nite time diapering.
for nite time diapering, tak byk stash pun takper... depends on ur wash routine...lke me mmg basuh everyday. so having 2 fitted and 2 ai2/aio pun dah cukup. roate alternately.

Betul Shida, don't delay gi hospital....seram I baca your car trip. Most important is both you & little Asri Irfan selamat. Tapi next baby pegi awal sikit ek? ha ha. A fren of mine had to drive with 1 hand coz baby dah terkeluar, the other hand kena support kepala baby. *shudder*

yes sis salwa....my mistake (my hubby and my mom keep ungkit about this...heheheh) to delay going to hospital.
sbb i tak suka melangut kat hospital la that make me sooo malas to go earlier...
it will end up with CTG, V checking.... waitng and waiting......... huh....so bored.
my screaming session in the car, my other hands pun cover bawah...nak rasa if kepala baby dah keluar belum. kekekekek
syukur verything is fine.
