This Cold and Flu Season...
Carrying your baby close in a sling discourages well meaning adults and children from touching your little one and passing along germs. Most people are reluctant to invade an adult's personal space to touch a baby in a sling which is not the case with strollers. You can protect your baby from colds and flu viruses like the h1n1 by using a baby sling or carrier when out in public. When heading outside, put on your UpMama sling and M Coat to protect them from both the cold and unwashed hands!
Says one smart mama: "Wear the baby in a sling and you'll get plenty of "oh how adorable" but no touching. If I put either of my sons in a stroller people would touch them freely but no one would if they were in a sling".
err not so la, at least in bangkok.
Last july i was there, hannah was in RS allatime -- the thais really like babies i guess. Her cheeks were touched countless times by passing strangers while she's in the sling :-( H1N1 was rather big at that time... mmg worried.

poor hannah.... luckily she didnt get H1N1 virus...
Yeah, it depends on where you are...when I was in US, they never touched my son...over here, my sons get kissed, touched on the face, etc etc. Its worse in a stroller, of course, but even if you wear them in a sling, it doesn't stop them. This was discussed at the BW talk at IBU house recently...all the expat mamas were not pleased about how many ppl were coming up and touching their babies! Lagi pula anak diorang tembam2, mata biru...mana la org kita tak geram, kan?? It all comes down to culture, really.
