SNUGGbaby is contributing to the MBW library and needs your help to choose and design the carrier!
Finally I have a small window to start this thread. Anyways, I was told that MBW needs an SSC the most..? So we'll be making one for MBW and because I'm one of those who just cannot decide on anything, I'd like you to help by givin me suggestions on the colour and design. You can also suggest on the style.. well.. practically just think out loud. Feel free to browse SNUGGbaby's fabric library to see what you can make use of in the design. Also it doesn't have to be from SNUGGbaby library.. you can think outside the box, metaphorically speaking.
Let us start from the basic.. I was thinking somewhere along the line... an SSC with black straps then a white body panel with ironed on MBW logo.. like shinigami MT? or empty everything but a small MBW logo applique on hood? It's actually limitless!!! but just to get the ball rolling.
Be as wild and as crazy as you wanna be because you're not paying for it so you don't have to be safe.. I mean we want it to look great in the end but e.g. you love pink but can't own a pink coz wanna share it with hubby.. then you can suggest a pink carrier for the library and later on you can borrow it. so don't need to play safe! KWIM?
I'd love it that everyone have fun throwing in ideas in spirit of IBW09. Have fun thinking of what crazy designs you'd like for the MBW library!! Put on sketches if you need to.
by the end of IBW malaysian level celebration, I will try to implement your ideas and make one Special MBW edition of SNUGGbaby SSC. YAYYY!!!! can't wait to see your wild ideas materialise!!!
Perhaps putting all bits and pieces of all the lovely fabrics in your fabric library onto the body panel? Be it in patchwork form or an appliqué?
liza, the shinigami style would be great as well. i loved it. just sooo simple but send the message.

body panel - pink for girl.. reverse espresso for boy
strap -any dark color
detach hood - can put MBW logo here or the IBW logo (applique)..
put seat dart..
or just make plain body panel.. with the mbw logo..
then buat slipcover.. 2-3.. hehehe..

darfia, patchwork would look nice but maybe not a great idea for ssc's body panel because sambung2 kain, too many seams may weaken the carrier and if tambah satu lagi layer nanti panas pulak.. but applique would be cool.. imagine using the fabric that I have.. then buat applique like collage gitu, and the big picture is MBW logo.. ok.. in my mind, it's awesome.. but I dunno if it'll look as good as IRL.. hehe.. it's an option to consider.
The thing is like buckle-tai, SSC is not really recommended to wear in reverse because the buckles would be terbalik and difficult to adjust. Quoting one of my cusomer, macam pakai buttoned baju terbalik. but sleeve..? now that's a great idea. Senang pun senang and if the end design is too girly, dad's can use the sleeve kan? Then the straps colour need to be unisex/matching lah kan?
Oh, btw.. remember that the straps can be covered with decorative fabric also in case anyone has a cool idea for the straps.
The SSC have mild darted seats and the contoured waist straps will add to the depth of the 'seat'

hidden hood & a small compartment somewhere to stuff in a few pcs of tissue or some money.
can have a fan attached to SSC? it gets hot sometimes. heheh.
can have 1 huge lubang for back panel? more airflow.
and if bb is not inside the carrier, can it be folded neatly or somehow hook to the wearer so will look nicer?
baby tend to lick the straps a lot, at the licking/drooling age. if the carrier is for MBW library, sure a lot of babies will give a lick. can have the upper part of the SSC removeable for machine wash? then each time someone borrows can just wash that part. more hygienic, wouldn't want to pass any viruses around. or milk burps might hv bacteria.
*sigh* you lots must be at the curve right now.. hope it'll be an amazing awareness walk.. so sorry can't be there.. I sure hope to see many photos.

to have a fan attached is a wild idea! I personally dun like to attach big toys of sort onto a carrier coz I dun wanna look like a walking stroller! hahah.. but having the battery operated fan is cool.. and cooling.. maybe I can think of a space that a parent can attach one of those fans
SNUGGbaby workshop is not well equip to make carriers with lubang/mesh for back panel. I'm just afraid using the machines that I have, the carrier won't be strong enough that's all. I'm definitely going to look into it. Maybe not a big lubang with meshed panel like the korean ssc.. but some slits? to led the air in.. like sports ergo..
Yes we can make drool pad for the shoulder straps.. detachable to chuck it in the machine and good enough for babies to chew/drool on! hehe
funny you should mention re: folding away the ssc when baby is not in it.. coz this is what SNUGGbaby came up with. I dun think any other maker has this. This is my experimental one tho so it looks floppy and it PINK! haha. The end product should be more snugg and presentable and the colour should match the body lining unless of course if you want a different colour.. well.. it's a custom add-on.
What do you think of this? I think it pretty much solve the stowing away and what to do with tots who loves the pop-in/pop-out. Anyways, the bulk (when the waist strap is still on) can be less that what it looks like on video depending on how you roll up the body prior to covering it.. err.. if u kwim..
OT: someone mention that we should have an MBW pin and put in on the carrier (somewhere out of baby's reach).. now that we have >300 members (kudos!!!) I suggest the admin to reconsider making and selling MBW pins or something like it.. a badge? We have discussed this before haven't we? Where's the thread by the way?

the snugg carrier sleeve is truly a brilliant idea! i loved it!
the mbw badge is a great idea. it just that we need BIG capital to start invest in that and not sure if all 300 member willing to buy it (the selling of mbw bookmarks and sling rings also not going well).
oooh, very nice liz! i like the foldaway + hip carrier! can it be attached to other carrier brands or needs to be sewn to snugg only?

But I think it's quite easy to stow away an ssc..
u lipat2 the straps, then roll it towards the waist pad.. then put on the buckle.
Let's see if i can show how to to do it using pics.
but the sleeves is nice.. can just lipat cincai2 and sumbat in the sleeves..
tapi when u r wearing the carrier.. wouldn't it be a lil bit hot? (unless u r using tshirt material lah..)
kalau synthetic kene agains the badan baby.. would be a lil warm nanti..

thanks everyone for the great input.. I'll leave this thread open for another week or so in case anyone hasn't got the chance to voice out yet. I have pretty much got the idea how I'll make the MBW special edition SNUGG SSC but it's not realised yet so there's still chance/time for you to give any input and suggestions.
I've been using this blue and red tartan carrier when I'm out and it's been easier to use like how I intended alhamdulillaah.. the hip carry part is really a plus when jalan2 with my LO, usually I need to carry a separate tote to keep the SSC when not in use. This kinda solve my problem coz I'm not the kind who would bother to lipat2 nicely when I'm on the go and not using the carrier btw, it can be folded like how syaz mentioned tho.
The material is very thin and airy. It is t-shirt material.. only I'm not sure the cotton content and my LO seemed ok in it, the part with the sleeve is at her bum and doesn't cover her back at all.. and it's just the same like when I haven't installed the carrier sleeve.. and if you know her.. she sweats a bucket when she's hot haha. I'll be using 100% cotton later so it should be even better insyaaAllaah.
Oh, do you have any favourite body panel from SNUGGbaby e-boutique? I may be making a sleeve for the SSC so do tell if you have any in particular that u really like and I'll shortlist them, can be from the designer fabric list also.
