Salam all.. ummizulfa request that we could discuss this. Actually at the beginning hubby suggest BW..he said kalau dah boleh buat kerja rumah guna mei tai, solat pun boleh lah..
Before this kitorang dukung zahraa.. and the other day dekat masjid pun, tak bagi dia lari, kitorang dukung dia..Hubby had asked ustaz about that and he said boleh. If carrying them is a better solution from letting them cry, which is lagi tak khusyuk.. then carry her.. But sometimes bila nak dukung dia telekung terselak and show the aurat. Walaupun tak sengaja, tapi tak sedap la..takut batal. So one day I used mei tai.. but front carry so she can see my face.. Alhamdulillah kami boleh solat jemaah. I wear Jubah and tudung so its easier to move. And Zahraa is studying my face and my mouth while I recited fatihah and all..I think that is good-close up :D
But i'm still lookig for the answer about urine in pampers.can we all share this??
salam, tq zoora for sharing.....
i am yet to try that...
i thot yiu wore her back carry , did it disturb you when you sujud?ada macam terhimpit tak?
and when you wear telekung, you bw inside or outside telekung?likewise the jubah ke
and i am looking forward the answer for the urine in the diapers.
tq again
salaam zoora/ummizulfa,
with regards to the urine in the diapers, if I am not mistaken (I will reconfirm inshaa Allaah), it should be ok, as long as you do not get it on your prayer garment. wallaahu a'lam.
as with solat with a baby, does holding the baby while standing, and when it's time for sujud, put the baby down, and carry baby again into standing position, etc - work?
This was reported by al-Bukhaari and Muslim from Abu Qutaadah al-Ansaari: “The Messenger of Allaah (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) used to pray whilst he was carrying Umaamah, the daughter of Zaynab bint Rasool-Allaah (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him). According to the report of Abu’l-‘Aas ibn Rabee’ah ibn ‘Abd Shams, when he prostrated he put her down, and when he stood up he picked her up.” (Narrated by al-Bukhaari, no. 486, and Muslim, no. 844).
That was what I used to do when my son was still a baby. But most of the time he was ok, perhaps what you can do is ensure that he/she is fed, clean diaper, etc before you go for prayers, espcially jemaah prayers.
Wallaahu a'lam
salam Ummizulfa and rayhana..
Rayhana is right.. we refer to that hadith also masa Zahraa was a small baby.. my husband yg pegang zahraa dulu usually, yeah put her down masa sujud.. but bila dia dah besar.. mcm berat nk dukung, so I bw
I tak pernah pulak bw pakai telekung, only when wearing jubah..so no problem dia lemas ke apa.. and masa sujud its ok.. tak penyek.. kalau back carry, susah sket.. dia mcm nak jatuh kedepan if she is at the back
I think what ray says is correct jugak same like my husband said.. as long as she is in clean garment and nothing touches us, it should be ok.. but i will try to find the answer..
yesterday lupa mintak kan husband tanya dr danial masa kelas.. will try next week
salaam,
i've seen some middle eastern ladies torso carry their LOs while performing solat in Makkah. TORSO! Subhanallaah, amazing.
i think as long as the baby is well fed, dry, etc (no reason to cry etc) - AND not crawling :P, can carry and put down... if crying, or just leave on the ground in front of you, no problem. BW pun ok although if using telekung better not put baby under telekung la..
i tried searching but can't really find anything to prohibit carrying your baby with soiled diaper while praying. as long as you don't get najaasah on your garments. just imagine during the time of the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him), I doubt they had diapers! Or maybe they did, hmm. Or maybe they were naked? Hmmm.. Anyway, inshaa Allaah, it is ok. And Islam is an easy way of life :D
Wallaahu a'lam
Great thread!!!
Suddenly rasa nak pegi umrah bringing hannah.......... *bliss*
I used to BW my DD when I perform solat. When she was a baby, I used wrap and now I use RS ( tummy to tummy). I don' wear telekung....I just wear hijab. Yes, agree with Ray...just change your baby before you go to masjid.
great thread. i used to carry anis while solat when she was little. ive read somewhere there should be no problem about that. but never used carrier yet. gonna try on my next baby. hehehehe.
my mom don't even let the kids near us when we are praying saying that the kids diapers are soiled and all.
but i always let my kids play around me, or stay at the sejadah when i am praying because it makes me feel less worry on their whereabout, and their safety.
lagi satu, bila lagi nak tunjuk dan ajar pasal solat if they don't see it with their eyes kan?
i have tried holding sawda while i pray, and it was ok but not that convenient.
after all, Islam is easy. tak payah la nak pening2 kepala sangat kan?
Hmm.. never thought about soiled diapers. I thought, just as long as the soiled part doesn't touch us and the sejadah, our wudhu tak batal and solat, insya Allah still sah.
When my son was smaller, we used to place him in his bouncer in front of us, just to the side a bit and let him watch us perform the solah.
Once he outgrew his bouncer, we let him sit in front of us, just to the side a bit, on the sejadah and he would still watch us perform the solah.
When he started to be more mobile he would be on the sejadah, either watching us, or trying to imitate us.
Now he really loves solah time, and always looking forward to it, and would even pretend to perform the solah himself.
great thread!
to me, there's really no issue on soiled diaper, we're the ones performing solat, no our babies!
be confident that the najis don't/will not leak when you solat. kalau was-was, just clean your baby and change the diaper beforehand lah.
i have a question.
like wawa, i usually let Sarah to be near the sejadah when i pray. since she's a big baby already, she sometimes like to roll over on the sejadah where i sujud. this is not a problem to me, as i 'pandai-pandai' adjust myself during sujud (usually, she's 'squashed' beneath me, like when i u bw a baby). but, it came to my concern when i pray at public surau, people around me keep on being 'helpful' and move Sarah away from my sejadah when i prayed. I know they meant well, but i'm just curious, is there any hadith (or in the Quran perhaps) that says anything againts this ('this' means = somebody else seating on your praying mat/walking in front of your praying mat.)
TIA!!!!
salaam,
it's totally ok to let our kids be around us when we perform solat, how else would they learn how to do it when their turn comes? ;) as it is, they are performing it even when it's not time for them to do so yet.. ;)
mye, to answer your question..
as far as i know, (and as per the sources of our religion, i.e. the Qur'an or the authentic ahadeeth), there is none that prohibits a child/baby from being around us when we are praying. therefore, if they are jumping around (well, if they are old enough to be told, then different story la ;)), or climbing on top of us, or laying themselves down where we sujud, etc (the list is endless!) - we pandai2 like you do, arrange our position, inshaa Allaah.
Infact, there is a authentic hadith that goes (a bit long):-
It was reported by ‘Abd-Allaah ibn Shaddaad
from his father: “The Messenger of Allaah
(peace and blessings of
Allaah be upon him) came out to lead us in either Maghrib or ‘Ishaa’ one
night, and he was carrying Hasan or Husayn. The Messenger of Allaah
(peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) came forward and put (the child)
down, then he said Takbeer and started to pray. During the prayer, he
prostrated and made his prostration long. My father said: ‘I raised my
head and I saw the child on the back of the Messenger of Allaah
(peace
and blessings of Allaah be upon him) whilst he was prostrating, so I
returned to my prostration.’ When the Messenger of Allaah
(peace and
blessings of Allaah be upon him) finished praying, the people said, ‘O
Messenger of Allaah, during your prayer you prostrated for so long that we
thought something had happened or that you were receiving Revelation.’ He
said, ‘Nothing at all happened, but my son was riding on my back and I did
not want to disturb him until he had had enough.’” (Narrated by
al-Nisaa’i, no. 1192; classed as saheeh by al-Albaani – may Allaah have
mercy on him – in Saheeh Sunan al-Nisaa’i, 1/246).
HOWEVER ;) There IS a specific authentic hadith which forbids us to cross in front of someone who is performing salah (that's why it's very important for us to either face a wall, or a pillar, or place something at our place of sujud as a sutrah).
Abu Sa’eed al-Khudri (may Allaah be pleased with him), said that the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said: “If one of you prays facing something that is screening him from the people, and someone wants to pass [directly] in front of him, let him push him away, and if he insists then let him fight him, for he is a devil.” Saheeh – agreed upon.
There is also another hadith (saheeh/authentic - sahih Muslim) which states that if a donkey or a dog or an adult woman walks past your place of sujud, your prayer is invalid.
Maybe leave Sarah with your hubby ke? Or whoever who's with you? Take turns praying..
I find it a challenge too, as my son won't sit still. Sometimes I will just hold him by me, so that he does not bother others who are praying.
HTH!
Wallahu a'lam
There is also another hadith (saheeh/authentic - sahih Muslim) which states that if a donkey or a dog or an adult woman walks past your place of sujud, your prayer is invalid.-raylis
owhh..really!!
thanx ray! i usually put my bag as a 'divider' in front of me when praying at public musolla. however, lil that i know my prayer can become invalid when somebody walks in front of me!
btw, have to agree that we should let our kids see us when we solat/recite Quran. Experience is exposure!
oh, i miss babywearing!! <<not related to the topic. heh... ;)
hmm.. i am not expert la ilmu hadith but as i referred to someone who knew better about some one yang lalu depan kita sembahyang..katanya solat kita tak batal, sbb itu bukan perkara perkara yang membatalkan solat.. but orang yang lalu tu berdosa... wallahualam..
